米国内科学会ACP日本支部の会員の皆様

梅雨の時期に入り、台風も多い年ですが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。
ACP日本支部では、2026年6月27-28日（土日）で7年ぶりに京都大学で対面開催とオンデマンド配信にて、年次総会講演会2026を開催いたしました。大会長の島根大学牧石徹也先生の多大なご尽力により、台風２つが接近する中、大変盛会となり、無事に終了することができました。この場をお借りして支部として厚く御礼申し上げます。

2026年は、ACP本部アンバサダーとして、ブラウン大学医学部総合内科教授の
Kwame Dapaah-Afriyie先生に2025年に続き、2度目の来日をしていただきました。
２つの大変教育的なセッションでご講演いただきました。肝臓病に関するレクチャーと、ブラウン大学で診察された症例についてケースディスカッションをしていただきました。

また、今回は、日本支部との連携を2021年から多大なご尽力をいただいている California Southern III 前支部長・現在ACP本部理事（Board of Regents, BOR）Tammy Lin先生にも来日いただき、多様性・包摂・リーダーシップについてプレナリー講演をいただきました。

お二人にはこれまでの支部への多大な貢献に対し、Sakura Awardが授与されました。

また、今回は、日本支部との連携を2021年から多大なご尽力をいただいているCalifornia Southern III 前支部長・現在、ACP本部理事(Board of Regents, BOR) Tammy Lin先生にも来日いただき、多様性・包摂・リーダーシップについてプレナリー講演をいただきました。
お二人にはこれまでの支部への多大な貢献に対し、Sakura Awardが授与されました。

さらに、Mayo Clinic教授で、病院総合内科医のJames Newman先生が来日され、国際交流プログラム委員会の江原 淳先生を中心に、予防医療の日米の相違について素晴らしい企画を実施いただきました。　そのほか今回は、牧石大会長を中心に、臨床現場とテクノリジーをつなげるとのテーマで、ハンズオンのセッションも多数開催され、人気の企画となりました。

今後、2027年4月の米国内科学会総会 Internal Medicine Meeting (IMM)の終了時に
支部長が北野夕佳先生に交代いたします。北野先生とスムーズな引き継ぎができるように
支部のさまざまな体制を整備しております。私の残りの任期中に、よりスムーズな運営のための一般社団法人米国内科学会日本支部の定款の修正変更、年次総会講演会及び支部の安定した財務管理、Local Nominations Committee (LNC)のノミネーション体制の強化、2013年以降のアナログデータのデジタル化などに向けて取り組んで参ります。また日本での総合内科の認知、普及、確立に向けて、より一層尽力して参ります。引き続き会員の皆様におかれましては、ACPを通した学術活動、日本支部での活発なご活動などをお願い申し上げます。

次回は同じ京都大学で2027年6月26-27日（土日）で、愛仁会 高槻病院の総合内科部長の筒泉貴彦先生を大会長（Chair, Scientific Program Committee 2027）として開催予定でございます。ぜひご予定を確保し、ご参加をお願い申し上げます。

Dear Members of the ACP Japan Chapter,

I hope this message finds you well. As we enter the rainy season and experience another year of frequent typhoons, I hope you are all doing well.

The ACP Japan Chapter successfully held its 2026 Annual Meeting on June 27–28, 2026, at Kyoto University, with both in-person participation and on-demand streaming. This marked our first in-person meeting at Kyoto University in seven years. Despite the approach of two typhoons, the meeting was a great success thanks to the tremendous dedication and leadership of Dr. Tetsuya Makiishi, Chair of the Scientific Program Committee. On behalf of the ACP Japan Chapter, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Makiishi and everyone who contributed to the success of this outstanding meeting.

In 2026, we were honored to welcome Dr. Kwame Dapaah-Afriyie, Professor of Medicine at Brown University and ACP Ambassador, for his second visit to Japan following his participation in 2025. He delivered two highly educational sessions: a lecture on liver disease and an interactive case discussion based on a patient he had managed at Brown University.

We were also delighted to welcome Dr. Tammy Lin, former Governor of California Southern III Chapter and current member of the ACP Board of Regents, who has been an invaluable partner of the Japan Chapter since 2021. She delivered an inspiring plenary lecture on diversity, inclusion, and leadership. Both individuals were honored with the Sakura Award in recognition of their longstanding and significant contributions to the ACP Japan Chapter.

In addition, Dr. James Newman, Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and a hospitalist, joined us in Japan. Under the leadership of Dr. Jun Ehara, Chair of the International Exchange Program Committee, an outstanding session was organized comparing preventive medicine in Japan and the United States. This year’s meeting also featured numerous hands-on workshops focusing on the integration of clinical practice and technology, which proved to be among the most popular sessions of the conference.

Following the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting (IMM) in April 2027, I will complete my term as Governor, and Dr. Yuka Kitano, Governor-elect will assume the role of Governor of the ACP Japan Chapter. To ensure a smooth transition, we are strengthening the Chapter’s organizational structure in several important areas. During the remainder of my term, we will continue working to revise the Articles of Incorporation of the ACP Japan Chapter, further stabilize the financial management of both the Chapter and the Annual Meeting, strengthen the nomination process of the Local Nominations Committee (LNC), and digitize historical Chapter records dating back to 2013. We also remain committed to advancing the recognition, dissemination, and establishment of General Internal Medicine as a specialty in Japan.

I would like to thank all of our members for your continued support and encourage you to remain actively engaged in ACP activities, scholarly endeavors, and the many opportunities offered through the Japan Chapter.

The 2027 ACP Japan Chapter Annual Meeting will be held once again at Kyoto University on June 26–27, 2027. The Scientific Program Committee will be chaired by Dr. Takahiko Tsutsumi, Chief of General Internal Medicine at Takatsuki General Hospital, Aijinkai Healthcare Corporation. We sincerely hope you will reserve these dates and join us for another outstanding meeting.
