米国内科学会ACP日本支部の会員の皆様
この度は、豪雨や地震が相次ぎ、被災された皆様に心よりお見舞い申し上げます。
米国内科学会ACPでは、例年9月に支部長会議が開催されますが、本年はシカゴで開催されました。支部長の私と次期支部長の北野夕佳先生とが一緒に参加しております。
支部長会議での様子を会員の皆様にご報告いたします。
米国内科学会では、10年に渡りCEO, Executive Vice Presidentを務められた Darylin Moyer 先生が退任され、新たに LeRoi S. Hicks 先生が就任されました。就任後、今後の活動などについてお話がありました。今回の支部長会議では、支部長・次期支部長向けに、支部運営に重要な財務の安定、会員登録等について重点的なセッションもありました。
9月の支部長会議では、前年度の支部運営に関して本部から表彰があります。日本支部は大変光栄なことに、2024年、2025年に続き、今回2026年も Chapter Excellence Gold Award を受賞いたしました。支部の財務も本部の理解や支援、年次総会講演会の運営体制、広報等の改革により黒字を維持できております。これも会員の皆様お一人お一人のご尽力の賜物です。
支部の今後の方向性を次期支部長の北野夕佳先生と相談しておりますが、2027年1月11日（月・祝）に東京駅前の会場で IM Spark 2027 を対面開催することになりました。総合内科医のキャリアを支援するイベントで、さまざまなキャリアステージの方々にキャリアストーリーを共有いただく企画です。
このほか、2027年4月15–17日（木金土）に米国内科学会ACP年次総会がロサンジェルスで開催されます。2027年6月26–27日（土日）には、米国内科学会ACP日本支部の年次総会講演会（筒泉貴彦大会長）が京都大学で開催されます。皆様とお会いできますことを心より楽しみにしております。

Dear Members of the ACP Japan Chapter,
First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to all those who have been affected by the recent heavy rains and earthquakes.
The American College of Physicians (ACP) holds its Board of Governors Meeting every September, and this year’s meeting was held in Chicago. I attended the meeting together with Dr. Yuka Kitano, our Governor-elect. I would like to take this opportunity to share some highlights from the meeting with our members.

After ten years of dedicated service as ACP’s Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Darilyn V. Moyer has stepped down from her position, and Dr. LeRoi S. Hicks has assumed the role. During the meeting, Dr. Hicks shared his vision and priorities for ACP’s future activities. This year’s meeting also included several important sessions for governors and incoming governors, with particular emphasis on key aspects of chapter management, including financial sustainability and membership.
Bringing together governors and incoming governors from across the United States and around the world, the meeting provides an invaluable opportunity to build connections and foster collaboration among ACP chapters. Numerous sessions were designed to facilitate the exchange of successful practices and innovative ideas among chapters, with the shared goal of strengthening chapter operations and the ACP community as a whole.
At the September meeting each year, ACP recognizes chapters for their achievements during the preceding year. We are extremely honored that the ACP Japan Chapter received the Chapter Excellence Gold Award for 2026, following our Gold Awards in both 2024 and 2025. Receiving this recognition for three consecutive years is a tremendous honor for our chapter.
Our chapter has also been able to maintain a positive financial position, thanks to the understanding and support of ACP headquarters, as well as fundamental reforms in the organization and management of our Annual Meeting, communications, and other chapter activities. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication and contributions of each and every one of our members. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your continued support.
I have also been discussing the future direction of the Japan Chapter with Dr. Yuka Kitano. As part of our efforts to support the professional development of our members, we are pleased to announce that IM Spark 2027 will be held in person near Tokyo Station on Monday, January 11, 2027, a national holiday in Japan.
IM Spark 2027 is an event designed to support the career development of physicians in internal medicine. Participants at different stages of their careers will share their own career stories, providing opportunities for learning, reflection, and networking. We are working enthusiastically to develop a program that will be meaningful to participants across a broad range of career stages—from medical students, junior residents, and specialty trainees to early-career, mid-career, and senior physicians.
We very much hope that you will save the date and join us. Further information regarding registration will be announced through the ACP Japan Chapter website and mailing list.
Looking further ahead, the ACP Internal Medicine Meeting 2027 will be held in Los Angeles from April 15–17, 2027 (Thursday–Saturday). The ACP Japan Chapter Annual Meeting 2027 (Dr. Takahiko Tsutsumi, Chair, Scientific Program Committee) will also be held at Kyoto University on June 26–27, 2027 (Saturday–Sunday).
I sincerely look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events and to continuing to work together to further strengthen the ACP Japan Chapter.
