今回、American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Meeting 2026（サンフランシスコ）に参加し、若手医師として非常に意義深い経験を得ることができました。東京で開催されたACP日本支部学術集会において受賞した症例をもとに、今回は国際学会の場でポスター発表を行う機会をいただき、日本での臨床経験を海外の医師に発信できたことは大きな意義のある経験であったと感じています。

発表そのものに加え、各国の医師とのディスカッションを通じて得られた学びは非常に大きなものでした。異なる医療背景を持つ医師と意見交換を行う中で、同様の臨床課題に対する多様なアプローチや思考過程に触れることができ、日常診療では得難い視点を得ることができました。
また、学会全体の雰囲気も印象的でした。活発な議論が展開される中で、多様な視点や考え方に触れることができ、自身の臨床的思考を見直す契機となりました。
個人的には、慣れない環境の中で英語で発表を行うことは決して容易ではありませんでしたが、その分、自身の課題と向き合い、成長を実感できる経験となりました。日常の延長線上にはない挑戦だからこそ得られる学びがあることを改めて認識しました。
このような機会をいただけたことに深く感謝するとともに、今回得た経験を今後の臨床および研究活動に還元していきたいと考えています。若手医師としてこのような経験を得られたことは非常に貴重であり、今後も視野を広げながら研鑽を積んでいきたいと思います。

Attending the American College of Physicians Internal Medicine Meeting 2026 in San Francisco was a meaningful milestone in my early career as a physician. Building on a case that had previously received recognition at the ACP Japan Chapter meeting in Tokyo, I had the opportunity to present it again as a poster on an international stage. Presenting work developed in Japan to a global audience was both a responsibility and a valuable experience that reinforced the universality of clinical questions across different healthcare settings.
Beyond the presentation itself, one of the most valuable aspects of this experience was the opportunity to engage in discussions with physicians from diverse backgrounds. Through these exchanges, I was able to gain insight into different approaches to similar clinical problems, as well as variations in clinical reasoning shaped by distinct healthcare systems. Even brief conversations often provided perspectives that are difficult to obtain in routine clinical practice.
The overall atmosphere of the meeting was also particularly impressive. The dynamic exchange of ideas and exposure to diverse perspectives provided a stimulating learning environment and prompted me to reflect on my own clinical thinking.
On a personal level, presenting in an unfamiliar environment and communicating in a second language was certainly challenging. However, this challenge itself made the experience deeply rewarding. It highlighted the importance of stepping beyond one’s usual environment in order to grow, not only as a clinician but also as a communicator.
I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to participate in this meeting. As a young physician training in Japan, being able to share my work and engage with the international medical community is both a privilege and a motivating experience. The perspectives I gained through this meeting will continue to shape my approach to clinical practice and academic work.
